Altersvorsorgedepot (Germany's state-subsidized retirement investment account) for women

On average, women receive considerably less pension than men. Part-time work, family breaks and lower pay leave a gap. The Altersvorsorgedepot helps to close it with government subsidy.

Pension gap

Why the pension gap hits women particularly hard

The gender pension gap is real and large.
Women interrupt their working lives more often to raise children or provide care, work part time more often and earn less on average. That noticeably reduces their later state pension. The Altersvorsorgedepot is well suited to this: it is flexible enough for fluctuating incomes and rewards small contributions in particular with a high subsidy rate.
  • up to €540 basic allowance per year
  • €300 child allowance per child
  • eligible for the subsidy from €10 a month
In practice

How the account helps against the pension gap

In exactly the situations that otherwise tear gaps open.

  • Working part time:
Even small contributions secure the full relative subsidy. You stay invested even when there is little to spare right now.
  • During a family break:
Contributions can be paused. The child allowances continue through your children as long as there is an entitlement to child benefit.
  • When returning to work:
As soon as more is possible again, you simply increase your contribution and take the full basic allowance with you.
On one income

A building block especially for single parents

For single parents the pension gap is often the largest, while the budget is particularly tight. This is exactly where it counts that even small contributions secure the full relative subsidy and that every child brings an allowance of its own. That way, even on one income and with little room to move, you can build something up for old age step by step.

Calculate the subsidy

This is how much subsidy you get

How much the government adds for your contribution and your children depends on just a few details. Set whether you are saving on your own or as a couple and how many children are involved, and you will see your possible subsidy per year straight away. It takes less than a minute.

Frequently asked questions

Part-time work, family and care breaks as well as lower pay lead to lower entitlements in the state pension. This difference is known as the gender pension gap.

Especially then. The subsidy has the strongest relative effect on small contributions, and the contributions can be flexibly adjusted to your income.

You can pause your contributions. The child allowances continue through your children as long as there is an entitlement to child benefit.

As a rule, the child allowance is assigned to the mother, similar to the Riester system. You settle the exact allocation when you apply.

For eligibility, €120 per year is enough. You reach the full basic allowance of €540 with an own contribution of €1,800 per year.
