What lies behind the commitment

The sentence of evidence is short and unusually honest. Available at N26 from January 2027, subject to regulatory certification. Most providers leave the second part out, even though it applies to every provider in the market and nobody may sell anything before the procedure at the Federal Central Tax Office. N26 writes it down. The FAQ adds that from January 2027 an Altersvorsorgedepot can be opened directly in the app or on the website.

Two variants are described, though under marketing titles rather than product names. One is called “Gestalte deine Rente selbst” — shape your own pension — and stands for free fund selection without guaranteed capital; the other, “Investiere automatisch”, for the standard depot with a lifecycle approach.

N26 names no prices, and no link to any of the account models either. The only figures are statutory ones: €120 minimum investment a year for entitlement to the subsidy, up to €540 in subsidy and a €6,840 maximum. There is no waiting list. The only button leads to opening an account. The page carries no date. We therefore check it in every round, and the review date above is the only date we can give for it.

The launch and two variants are decided. Costs, fund selection and certification are not decided.
What does the Altersvorsorgedepot cost at N26?
The product page says a great deal; on costs it says nothing. A price only becomes binding with the schedule of fees that follows certification.
