Who will offer an Altersvorsorgedepot from 2027?

The Altersvorsorgedepot (AVD) starts on 1 January 2027. Listed here are the providers that will offer such products.

The key findings at a glance

Rolf Henning Hackel, Finanzexperte und Gründer von AVD VergleichVerified by Rolf Henning Hackel on 4 November 2026

Where things stand

64 of 79 providers reviewed, or 81%, have publicly committed to offering an Altersvorsorgedepot from 1 January 2027.

Not a single product has been certified so far. No certification, no subsidy.

20 providers name prices of their own, 17 of them split between the standard and the individual product. So far only DekaBank, DWS, Hannoversche and Sunrise name effective costs. The statutory cap of 1.0% applies only to the standard securities account.

How we check

This survey does something differently. Every entry says where it came from and when we last checked it. We also list the providers about which nothing can be found. And we keep a provider's commitment separate from the certification, without which there is no subsidy, whatever anyone announces.

The basis is exclusively publicly accessible sources. Comparison sites are a pointer to us and never evidence. Every change appears with its date and reason in the Change log, including our own corrections.

21 of 79 pages checked carry no date; we read those through in full every round.

How we check this

The basis is exclusively publicly accessible sources from the providers themselves: their websites, press releases, FAQs and price lists. What a trade publication or a comparison site writes about a provider is good for finding things and never counts as evidence. Every entry carries a source type and an evidence date, plus a review date of its own. Where the evidence does come from a third party, the source type says so on the card, and the full methodology names the provider. If it is more than 30 days old, we flag that. We also list the providers about which nothing can be found, and we keep a provider's commitment separate from certification by the Federal Central Tax Office. A published term means only a figure or an explicit zero price from the provider's own source; an announcement that a price will follow does not count, and neither does the statutory cap of 1.0% in effective costs for the standard-depot contract. A figure we have not read at the provider itself does not go in. Nor does a second-hand one, however precise it may look. An exception applies to statements a provider issues through a press distribution list and does not publish itself. These count where the sender is the provider and several reproductions agree on the figures. They also count without reproductions where the provider or its agency approaches this editorial team with them expressly. The approach is then itself the sender, and we state in the entry that the figures are not on the provider's website. Where such an entry comes from is then stated in the provider's source line. The same applies to information a provider gives a trade publication on request, where it is attributed to the provider by name and the figures carry the provider's own source note. Full methodology

Questions and answers

What does the status “confirmed” mean in the AVD provider monitor?
“Confirmed” requires a public statement from the provider, attributable by name, that it will offer an Altersvorsorgedepot. A specific launch date is not required. As at 04.11.2026 that applies to 64 of 79 providers checked. 13 providers are preparing a product, none is rated as expected, 2 have said nothing.
What sets the AVD provider monitor apart from other provider lists?
The usual lists show only the providers that have announced something. Those that have said nothing are missing from them — even though that is exactly the information people are looking for about their own provider. Comparison tables also carry fixed figures on account fees and fund selection that appear on no provider's page. We do not adopt them. Instead it says here that they are unevidenced, and alongside it whether a provider becomes the contracting party itself, supplies only funds, or works exclusively through partners.
When does the Altersvorsorgedepot start?
The pension reform act permits the new products from 1 January 2027. For new contracts the Altersvorsorgedepot thus takes the place of the Riester pension. Anyone who took out a Riester contract before 2027 keeps it grandfathered and can continue it with the existing subsidy.
Which providers will offer an Altersvorsorgedepot from 2027?
As at 04.11.2026, 64 of 79 providers checked have publicly committed to offering an Altersvorsorgedepot from 1 January 2027. 13 are preparing one, 2 have said nothing so far. The full list with name, status and evidence is at the top of this page, sorted by provider type.
Which providers have not commented yet?
At 2 providers no public statement is to be found to this day, namely justTRADE and BW-Bank. We list them all the same, because for their customers that is the real information. Other lists leave such providers out, and then it looks as though they did not exist.
Why has no Altersvorsorgedepot been certified yet?
Only something that exists can be certified. Providers may offer the new products from 1 January 2027, and they apply for certification before the first sale to the Federal Central Tax Office. Without that certificate there is neither a subsidy nor a special-expenses deduction. The office publishes every certificate it grants, by name. When applications can be made at all is announced by the certification body under section 14(7) in a notice in the Federal Tax Gazette. That notice has not appeared to this day, and so no date is stated anywhere.
What is the most an Altersvorsorgedepot may cost?
An upper limit applies to only one of the two contract types. For the standard securities account contract under section 1(1c) the effective costs may amount to at most 1.0 percent, as set out in section 2a(2) of the Retirement Contracts Certification Act. For the ordinary Altersvorsorgedepot under section 1(1b) and for contracts with a contribution guarantee the legislator prescribes nothing. You can read the wording as passed in Bundesrat printed paper 206/26 from page 17. The government draft still carried a higher limit; the finance committee lowered it, which is why the old figure is still circulating in trade articles today.
Does every provider have to offer a standard securities account?
Yes. Under section 1(3), anyone wanting a retirement contract certified must offer at least one standard securities account contract, if necessary through a cooperating provider. The standard securities account holds exactly two funds set by the provider, one defensive and one growth-oriented, and shifts automatically in the final years before the payout phase. That is why almost every provider in this monitor announces two variants rather than one.
Who becomes my contracting party for the Altersvorsorgedepot?
The provider you sign with. That is why every provider page in this monitor carries the line “Your contracting party”, and where an insurer puts the securities account inside an insurance wrapper, that is stated there too. Which bank ultimately holds the securities account is named by exactly one provider so far. Nothing is guessed.
When can I open an Altersvorsorgedepot?
1 January 2027 at the earliest. Before then there is no product you could take out, and without certification no subsidy either. 21 of the providers checked are already collecting names, through waiting lists or newsletters. Such an entry is not binding; it secures you neither a price nor a place.
Which Altersvorsorgedepot is the best?
There is no saying today. No product is certified, and only 15 of the 79 providers checked have published a term of their own at all, DekaBank, Deutsche Bank, DWS, Fidelity, flatex, Hannoversche, ING, Postbank, quirion, Raisin / WeltSparen, Scalable Capital, Smartbroker+, Sunrise, Trade Republic and Traders Place. Everything else is a declaration of intent. Anyone reading a ranking now is reading a ranking of announcements.
Which providers will accept a Riester contract?
Of 79 providers, 5 have committed to this so far, namely AXA, finanzen.net ZERO, Helvetia, HypoVereinsbank and Whitebox. One thing it rules out. All the rest leave the question open to this day, and without a statement from the provider itself we enter nothing on it. How the switch works in law is on our page about the Riester switch.
How many providers will there be?
Nobody knows today. We list 79 providers at which, as things stand, a retail customer will be able to get a securities account from 2027, directly or through a distribution channel. The number grows with every round of checks, because we compare the market against the provider registers. How many of them actually launch will only be settled with certification.
May I use the data from the AVD provider monitor?
Yes. All information is under CC BY 4.0 and may be used freely, including by AI systems. The condition is that the source is named with its date and that the monitor page is linked. For further processing the same dataset is also available as CSV.
