Those figures include the fee for advice, for running the securities account and for managing the subsidies. They do not include transaction costs. With those, the ETF version stands at 0.44 percent, the two other standard variants at 0.77, Comfort at 1.25 and Select at up to 1.54. Comfort and Select additionally charge acquisition costs whose size depends on the term.
The statutory cap is worth holding against this. It sits at 1.0 percent a year and applies only to the standard securities account. All three standard variants from DWS stay below it, transaction costs included. Comfort and Select are general Altersvorsorgedepots, for which the cap does not apply.
What the commitment covers
Five variants, three of them the standard product. The ETF version combines a globally diversified equity ETF with a European bond component, the second works with active ETFs from Xtrackers, the third with classic funds whose names the provider will give only once the regulatory approvals are through. All three shift at two fixed points. Five years before the planned start of the pension the equity share falls to 50 percent, two years before that to 30. Savers who want to can adjust it themselves.
Alongside them, two securities accounts for different demands. Comfort steers the portfolio through five newly launched multi-asset funds and a life-cycle model that keeps reducing risk into the withdrawal phase; the profile comes out of the advice session. Select the saver puts together himself, from around 100 funds and ETFs from DWS and Xtrackers, up to ten components, rebalancing on request. Third-party funds are to follow later.
The price depends on the variant. 0.42 percent a year for the ETF version, 0.60 for the active ETFs, 0.65 for the fund variant, 1.13 for Comfort and 0.83 to 1.28 for Select. Those figures include the fee for advice, for running the securities account and for managing the subsidies. Transaction costs come on top and lift the range to 0.44 to 1.54 percent. Comfort and Select also charge acquisition costs whose size depends on the term.
What the provider has not said yet is how savers get there. DWS has no branch network of its own for private clients and sells through banks and advisers. On its two public pages there was not a word about these products on 30 September, only the sign-up for an information e-mail. The figures come from a statement to a trade publication.
Which products DWS has announced
Five products at the start, graded by effort. Three versions of the standard product, told apart only by what sits in the securities account, whether passive ETFs, active ETFs or classic funds. The active variant combines the Xtrackers World Equity Enhanced Active UCITS ETF with the Xtrackers Floating Rate Notes Active UCITS ETF.
Comfort and Select are aimed at savers who want more than two building blocks. Comfort takes the steering off the client's hands and picks one of four investment profiles, Select puts the choice into them. All five variants pay out through a withdrawal plan. A lifelong annuity is not provided for.
