What the funds cost, the provider does not say — and here that is the real question, because the money goes into the provider's own funds. Without that figure it stays open what the account costs in the end.
The commitment in detail
Since 14 October 2026 Sunrise has named figures, and for two variants. The Standarddepot ETF is to cost 0.1% in effective costs a year, and for the first three years the house refunds them in full. The Standarddepot Plus is to lie between 0.5 and 0.9% a year, with the first year refunded. Depot management and transactions cost nothing in either. The ETF depot carries customary market spreads, the Plus no front-end loads. None of it is binding. It all stands subject to certification.
The release is our evidence, and it came from the house directly. The figures are not on the website. sunrise.app has neither a press page nor a newsroom, the most recent blog entry is dated 25 September 2026, and the product page still carries the line „Fonds < 1 % pro Jahr“ in its cost table. Checked on 16 October 2026. Both are stated here so that you can find the figures again if you go looking on the house's own site.
Two things need explaining. Both are called a standard depot, but the Plus builds on the existing fund range, that is on actively managed in-house funds. And the 0.1 and the 0.5 to 0.9 per cent belong to Sunrise; the cap of 1.0 per cent belongs to the law. The Plus is also to permit withdrawals for residential purposes, within the statutory requirements.
At 0.1 per cent Sunrise is level with Deka. No one in the monitor names a cheaper standard depot, counted on 16 October 2026 across every effective-cost figure of the 76 houses; the next lowest rate is 0.42 per cent in the DWS Vorsorgedepot ETF. A refund over three years is named by no other house. At Scalable Capital the zero in the standard depot applies until 31 December 2027.
PASS Consulting handles the allowances, by the house's account with over 20 years in the Riester business. The release also names IQAM Invest/Deka, Deutsche Bank and Raiffeisen Bank International as partners. Sunrise still names no contracting party. That remains open.
The FAQ on the page is aggressively positioned against Trade Republic. We treat it as marketing. For comparing two providers, one provider's account of itself is worth nothing.
A query against our own classification, and it holds. The run of 12 October 2026 reported that the fund charges of „unter 1 %“ were probably oriented at the statutory cap. The page does not say that. The figure sits in the provider's own cost table, in the row „Fonds“, with the addition „Diese Kosten sind bereits im Preis der Fonds berücksichtigt“, and it refers to the provider's own two funds. The sentence about meeting the standard-account requirements sits elsewhere and carries no figure. It remains a statement of the provider's own. Read at the source on 12 October 2026.
Which products Sunrise has announced
The provider's own funds rather than third-party ETFs: the Standortfonds Deutschland and Sunrise Dividends and Interest.
You sign directly with the provider, from €10 a month — the lowest entry any provider has named so far. Sunrise rules out a Riester transfer. Nothing is certified yet.
The facts at a glance
About Sunrise
Sunrise is a pension app from Vienna, built specifically for the new Altersvorsorgedepot and resting on two companies behind it. One runs the app and brokers; the other holds the licence as an investment firm and is supervised by Austria's FMA, not by BaFin. The funds are managed by Salzburg-based IQAM Invest, and the custodian bank is Raiffeisen Bank International. The contract runs through Austria.
