The commitment in detail

The Nuremberg bank has recently put up a product page of its own. The top of it reads “Ab 2027”, and the FAQ is more precise: “Der Start ist für Januar 2027 geplant.” Anyone interested can register for notification — through the newsletter, without commitment and without a bonus. The page carries no product names; the bank calls it “Altersvorsorgedepot der UmweltBank”.

One commitment sets UmweltBank apart from the rest of the market. Investing is not possible in any ETF of your choosing, but “ausschließlich auf Fonds & ETFs der UmweltBank Selektion, welche die Anforderungen von Artikel 8 oder Artikel 9 der EU-Offenlegungsverordnung (SFDR) erfüllen“. That narrows the investment universe. No other provider in the monitor words it that way.

Prices are missing. The page names 540 euros in basic allowance, 300 euros per child and a 200-euro bonus for those starting work — these are the statutory allowances and not the bank’s own figures. No zero price, no effective cost ratio, no minimum contribution. The bank wrote to us on 19 October 2026 that more precise terms would follow “in den nächsten Wochen“.

On switching from Riester the bank says nothing firm. Its FAQ states that whether and under what conditions a switch is possible or sensible depends on the existing pension arrangement and on the statutory rules. No payout figure appears on the page. Read by us on 19 October 2026.
