What lies behind the commitment

comdirect is our textbook case for the evidence principle. The bank's magazine carries a general guide to the Altersvorsorgedepot, and that would not satisfy us as evidence. Guides explain the law. They promise no product. Only the separate product page commits by name that the Altersvorsorgedepot is coming to comdirect too.

Three routes are announced for January 2027. A standard Altersvorsorgedepot with preselected solutions, a general Altersvorsorgedepot with freer choice, and the Frühstartrente, the early-start pension. On the payout the provider gets more specific than the rest of the market: the start can be chosen between 65 and 70, and the monthly payments run at least to the age of 85.

There is a promotion running as well. Anyone registering as a customer without obligation gets an early-bird bonus of €50 towards signing up later. Anyone not yet a customer first has to open any comdirect product to qualify. What is reserved is an intention to buy, not a contract.

Who becomes the contracting party is now evidenced too. The standing subsidy application is to be made once, with comdirect as the securities-account provider, after which the provider sees to the subsidies arriving each year. On costs it still says details will not be given until shortly before the product launches. That contradicts every portal already naming specific fees for comdirect today. We stick with the bank.

On 27 August 2026 comdirect's chief executive, Sabine Schoon-Renné, spoke on the record on Commerzbank's corporate site. There will be offerings ready to sign on 1 January, she said, for the standard offering as well as for the general Altersvorsorgedepot. In the same breath stands the sentence that not everything will be fully finished by that point. No other provider in the monitor names that limitation.

What comdirect adds at the start

comdirect pays a 50-euro early-bird bonus for registering without obligation.

Registration as a comdirect customer; the bonus applies to a later comdirect Altersvorsorgedepot contract. Anyone who is not yet a customer has to open a comdirect product first. The terms of participation are available as a PDF.

The page names no deadline. The bonus depends on the contract, not on the registration — and the bank says expressly that it will name the cost of the account only shortly before launch.

About comdirect

comdirect started in 1994 as a subsidiary of Commerzbank and is one of Germany's longest-established online brokers, with a current account, call money and a broad range of savings plans. Since the merger into its parent in November 2020, however, it is no longer a company in its own right but a brand of Commerzbank AG; the Quickborn site was retained. The securities account contract is therefore with Commerzbank.

Questions and answers

Does comdirect offer an Altersvorsorgedepot?
Yes. Evidence: the provider's website, 7 October 2026. The wording and our verification date are at the top of this page.
What has comdirect already decided, and what not?
The intention is decided, evidenced by the provider's website. Costs, fund selection and certification are not decided.
What does the Altersvorsorgedepot cost at comdirect?
Nothing is settled on that yet. The provider's own page says details will not be given until shortly before the product launches. A price only becomes binding with the schedule of fees that follows certification.
